Dial 7-1-1 to Connect
7-1-1 is the easiest way to access Florida Relay services. This free, easy-to-remember number connects you with a trained relay operator who will assist with your call.
How it works
- Dial 7-1-1 from any phone.
- A Florida Relay Operator will answer and identify themselves.
- Provide the phone number of the person you want to call.
- The operator will connect the call and assist with communication between both parties.
Important note
7-1-1 is not an emergency number and should not be confused with 9-1-1.
Available Relay Services
Florida Relay offers several communication options to support different needs. Each service is designed to work with the technology and abilities you have.
Speech-to-Speech (STS)
STS assists individuals with speech disabilities by providing a specially trained relay operator who listens carefully and repeats the caller’s words for clear understanding.
Relay Conference Captioning (RCC)
This service provides real-time captions for group conversations such as video conferences or multi-party calls, making it easier for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing to participate.
Text Telephone (TTY / ASCII)
A person who is deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, or speech disabled uses a TTY device to type messages to a relay operator. The operator reads the typed message to the hearing caller and types the spoken response back.
Voice Relay
Standard voice telephone users can place calls to TTY users. The relay operator types the hearing person’s spoken words and reads the typed response back.
Voice Carry Over (VCO)
VCO allows individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing to speak directly to the other person while a relay operator types their responses.
Hearing Carry Over (HCO)
VCO allows individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing to speak directly to the other person while a relay operator types their responses.
Enhanced Speech-to-Speech
Enhanced STS allows users to store preferences and contacts to help speed up the call process.

Florida Relay uses modern technology and trained operators to make phone communication accessible and efficient.
