About FTRI

Expanding access across Florida.

Our Mission and History

Florida Telecommunications Relay, Inc. (FTRI) is a statewide nonprofit organization that helps Floridians who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, or speech impaired stay connected through specialized communication equipment and support services.

Since 1991, FTRI has served as administrator of the Telecommunications Access System Act (TASA). This legislation was established to ensure that individuals with communication challenges have access to essential telecommunications services.

Through this program, eligible Florida residents can receive specialized phones, tablets, and signaling devices at no cost for as long as they are needed. This program and the Florida Relay Service are funded through a small monthly surcharge on telephone services across the state.

Our mission is to inform the community through comprehensive outreach, equip qualified individuals with specialized technology, and connect Florida residents with the tools and services needed to communicate with confidence in everyday life.

Our Partners

FTRI works with a network of Regional Distribution Centers (RDCs) and community partners across Florida to provide local access to equipment, support, and services.

This statewide presence ensures that individuals can receive assistance in the way that works best for them, whether that’s in person through a local partner or through direct support from our team.

Together with relay-friendly businesses and community organizations, we are expanding access to communication throughout Florida.
